Yes, it does. ,DMC9000 Linux Driver supports different version of Linux, it depends on the XFree86 version, DMC 9000 controller can support Xfree Windows version 3.3.6 and 4.x.x. And it does not mind which company' Linux OS, using the simple way to check your Xfree 86 version by typing [X –version] under text mode, then down load the proper PenMount Linux driver version for your touch screen solution

3.Which mode can DMC9000 Linux Driver support?

DMC9000 Linux Driver can only support graphic mode, it means PenMount Linux driver operation is under XWindow, not under text mode of Linux

4.For serial interface, what is the maximum length of RS232 Cable for DMC9000 controller to PC?

According to RS232 specification, it supports upto 15 meter if by transfer speed of 256kbps, but there are many noise cross the path of the RS-232 cable, also the quality and material of cable will be also a factor to reflect the communication quality. In order to protect the communication quality of PenMount controller to PC, we will suggest the maximum length is 8 meter. If your application has to put PenMount controller far from PC, please set up an Extend Box. The Extend Box is requested to support Serial PnP Device, otherwise PenMount DMC9000 cannot be work. When you set up the Extend Box, following is the data requested by PenMount DMC9000 controller. Bauds: 19200 bauds Data bits: 8 bit parity: None stop bits: 1 bit control signals: RTS RXD TXD GND DTR DSR

The touch screen will be aged after certain period using or putting it at harsh environment for a period. It is the normal situation. 10.Can PenMount DMC9000 support Windows embedded OS

At present, Windows Embedded has the following systems: WinNT Embedded, Win2000 Embedded and Win XP Embedded. The drivers for the DMC9000 controller are OK for the Windows Embedded systems. Please add "Windows Installer" when you make Image File.

12. I have installed PenMount DMC9000 controller in the computer system, it is still not working. How shall I do?

Please refer to the installation manual and check if your installation procedures are correct. You may get the manual from the Manual index in the PenMount CD or download it from Download Area on our website. 1. If the above-mentioned does not help you to solve the problem, you may check the LED on the Control Board As the power is inputting, there are three possible situations: (If the control board was already integrated in the system and could not be seen, please check the 3rd point directly.) A. Please touch the touch panel and then do not touch, you will see the LED light up and then die out. This means the control board is normal function. Please see the 3rd point directly. B. If the LED always lights up, it means the active area of touch panel is pressed by some mechanical part or the cable are misused. Please contact with your distributor. C. If you touch the touch panel but the LED does not light up, it means no power input or the control board out of order. Please contact with your distributor. 2. Please uninstall the PenMount Driver and any driver installed in the COM port. 3. Please enter System / Device Management / Mouse and then you will see " Unknow Device " or " ﹗ PenMount DMC9000 Controller". If you don't see each of the two items, please press "Refresh key" and reinstall Driver, and then the Control Board shall function in good condition. 4. If the device does not appear after you press 'Refresh key', please check if the RS-232 Cable gets loose with the Control Board. If they tight well each other, please check if the COM port functions well or not. You may test it with Modem or Serial Mouse. If the COM port does not function well, please recover it first and then reinstall driver. So the system may work in good condition. 5. If the above suggestions still cannot solve your problem, please contact with your distributor or us. 13. It happens that the computer will be 'reset' when touch the screen, and it is under Windows 2000/XP Driver V2.02.

It is because of the memory corruption after executing many programs in Windows 2000/XP OS. PenMount driver V4.01 has improved it. Please down load the new driver V4.01 or later version from Download area and reinstall the new driver to system.

14.Reminding when install PenMount Linux Driver

1. Please read the manual first 2. Check your XFree86 or Xorg version 3. In Linux system, when you type the characters, pay attention on space, common and capital characters. If typing wrong, Linux system will not accept it.

PenMount USB

1.How many O.S. does PenMount USB controller support？

It supports Windows 98 , 98SE ,Me, 2000 , XP, 2003, CE and Linux O.S.

2.Reminding when installing PenMount Windows 98 USB driver.

The O.S. will ask for install HID ( Human Interface Device) driver first before you install PenMount USB driver. It does not copy the HID to system in Windows98, user has to do it by self, copy HID from Windows 98 CD ROM to hard disc first and then install PenMount Windows 98 driver.

3.What is the maximum length for USB cable between PenMount USB controller to PC?

USB transmission has two modes, one is Full-speed mode, transmission rate is 12Mbps, and the other is by Low-speed mode , transmission rate is 1.5 Mbps. The maximum length for Full speed mode is 5 meter, and it is 3.5 meter for Low-speed mode。 PenMount USB controller is using Low-speed mode as transmission, you need to use an USB hub or Extend Box for the distance longer than 3.5M.

4.What is the function of the two switches on PenMount 5184 control board?

SW1: "ON" SW2: it is USB devices number, please refer to PenMount USB manual first.

5.How can I use multiple PenMount USB Control Board?

6.It is difficult to install PenMount USB Driver V1.0 under Windows OS, what can I do?

7. I have installed PenMount USB controller in the computer system, it is still not working. How shall I do?

First please make sure your Operation System which is Windows 98; Windows 98SE; Windows Me; Windows 2000; Windows XP . 1. The message of 'USB Human Interface Device' will appear when you plug the PenMount USB device to system. 2. If your system is Windows 98 or 98SE OS, you need to put your O.S. CD to CD ROM first, then the system will install the USB device automatically. If your system is Windows Me/2000/XP, then the system will automatically install the USB device 3. If you cannot see the 'USB Human Interface Device' message, it is possible that your USB port has some problem or the control board has malfunction, please use another USB Device to test the port in order to identify the port is working properly, or contact your distributor. 8. My touch screen cannot be operating properly under Win CE, is there something wrong on the PenMount Windows CE driver?

The most cases are from the set up, check the following 1. USB 1.1 has two interface, OHCI and UHCI. Make sure your USB interface first. 2. Try first by mouse, put your USB mouse to the computer USB port, if the mouse can work OK then PenMount USB controller will be fine. 3. Check your computer hardware and software, is it working properly? After the above, it should work OK.

9. I installed PenMount USB Driver first and then plug PenMount USB Control Board to PC, and it cannot work properly. Why?

Your installing procedure is wrong, follow up the steps to reinstall again 1. Uninstall PenMount USB Driver 2. Plug PenMount USB Control Board to PC first 3. Install PenMount USB Driver
