PenMount Supports All Brand of Analog Resistive Touch Screens

Touch screen applications are becoming popular; according to market research, resistive touch screen market share stands at 80%; and this is due to stable technology, various ouch input mediums applicable, easy to integrate and inexpensive. These last few years, touch screen manufacturers have been surveying new materials and innovated designs in order to improve function performance and come out with value- added features to meet different applications in the market.

Basically, the structure of the resistive touch screen is based on two layers of ITO conductive materials. Normally, the top sheet is ITO film and the bottom sheet is a ITO glass. The two conductive materials have defined surface resistance in ohm/square feet unit; The X and Y axis close-loop resistance value change is based on the touch screen size and the ITO material surface resistance; the touch controller will detect the voltage when user touches the touch screen; the controller will operate the coordinates after detecting the voltage.

In general, the resistance range of ITO film and ITO Glass is between 200 and 1000 ohms/sq; some products request very high surface resistance material that is in the range of 1300 to 1800 ohms/sq. In the 4- and 5-wire resistive touch screen, the X- and Y-axis close-loop circuit resistance will be between 30 and 2000 ohms or higher. The lower resistance product will have higher power consumptions, while the higher resistance product will have the noise interference risk; PenMount series of controllers have been tested with most kinds resistive touch screens; and the result is these controllers and its drivers have the best compatibility with the 4-wire, 5-wire and 8-wire resistive touch screens, PenMount controllers also work very well with low reflective type of touch screens, high light transmission touch screens and the newest technology, Glass on Glass resistive touch screens. PenMount series of controllers have a long history of success working with different brands of resistive touch screen.

PenMount 6000 series of controllers is able to work with most of all resistive touch screens in the market. Whatever the size, ratio of the length and width, the structure and resistance of the ITO film and the ITO glass, the PenMount team will help to optimize your systems. The schematic diagrams of the PenMount 6000 controllers show the pin assignments; on Windows operating system, PenMount utility is able to adjust the touch screen rotation angle to 90, 180 and 270 degree without re-calibration. In addition, PenMount advanced calibration utility will correct the linearity and improve the accuracy. Our customer service team is always at the ready to help you if you have any questions during your design and integration process.
