Last week our customer called to inform us
that PenMount Windows CE driver does not
support the Beep Sound function. In the
November 12, 2007 PenMount Bulletin, we
erroneously reported that Windows CE driver
supports Beep Sound; we apologize for this
incorrect information. The correct
information is PenMount Windows CE 4.1/ 4.2/
5.0/ 6.0 drivers do not support Beep Sound
function; PenMount drivers are not able to
set off the beep sound from the PC speaker
or Audio Card of the system.
In Windows CE O.S., all software and
hardware function settings have to be
completed during operating system build-up,
these function settings are not able to
start up during the OS build-up. There are
two methods to execute the beep sound from
the PC Speaker or Audio Card:
(1) PenMount touch driver. Different sound
chipsets need different way to execute the
function, it can not be standardized.
PenMount team offers appropriate “event” to
customers for their applications, to access
the beep sound function in their own system.
(2) When touching the screen, PenMount
driver will generate a standard “event”
message, customer can design beep function
according to this message into their
applications.
We have included the 2nd method into
PenMount Windows CE driver developing plan,
and will officially announce this via the
PenMount Bulletin. If your have this beep
sound function request before the new
updated driver is completed, please offer
the event message name and definition of
your application, we will customized the
driver for your requirements.
