According to market research data, the
majority of touch screen is the resistive
type, covering almost 86% market share. Most
resistive touch screen manufacturers offer
4-, 5- and 8-wire designs. The 4-wire design
is mainly for touch screens under 8.4 inch;
for touch screens over 8.4 inch, 5-wire or
8-wire designs are mainly the norm. For
public applications such as POS, KIOSK, POI,
etc., we suggest using 5- or 8-wire touch
screens; for personal applications such as
handheld equipments like PDA, Smart Phone,
Tablet PC, UMPC, 4-wire touch screens are
recommended.
PenMount Touch Controller supports 4-, 5-,
8-wire resistive touch screens. Touch screen
manufacturers have their own designs of
touch screen pin assignments, these pin
assignments may differ from each other. Thus
before connecting to PenMount controller,
user can refer to PenMount data sheet and
touch screen data sheet to confirm pin
assignment of the controller and the touch
screen.
PM 9036BH, PM 6300, PM 6500 and PM 6200C
control boards support 4-, 5-, 8-wire touch
screen simultaneously. PenMount controllers
detecting method for 5-wire is different
from 4-/8-wire, and a switch is designed in
on the control for the appropriate
selection. If an incorrect selection is
made, the LED on the board will light up
continuously, please disconnect the control
board and adjust the switch to the right
location, then reconnect the board. Please
refer to PenMount data sheet for how to
adjust the switch, or refer to the rear or
back side of the PenMount control board for
instructions.
PenMount Touch Controllers support touch
screen resistance value from 25ohm to
1300ohm, thus can be used with various
brands of 4-, 5- and 8-wire touch screen,
such as AMT from Taiwan; ELO and Bergquist
from USA; Gunze, Fujitsu from Japan, and
others. |
