For a touch controller to match well with a
touch panel, accuracy is not the only
factor; to be able to provide user-friendly,
efficient and easy-to-use software package
to support the touch controller is a most
important factor. We are going to introduce
the latest version of PenMount Windows
Universal Driver in this issue of the
PenMount Bulletin, and will bring you a
briefing of the new features of this
version.
-
Windows XP and Windows Vista are WHQL
certified.
-
Two new operating methods added, these
are “Pen Input Emulation” and “Click On
Release”.
-
PenMount Single-Touch Gesture feature.
-
Intel IEGD for screen rotation
supported.
The touch screen has been used as a mouse
input device with left and right click
emulation features. Previous PenMount
Windows Universal drivers already provide
two operating modes, which are “Mouse
Emulation” and “Click-On Touch”. The first
operating mode will send left button down
function when user presses, and left button
up function when user release its touch. The
second operating mode will send a mouse
click only on user’s touch. In the latest
PenMount Universal Driver, two new operating
modes are added, these are “Pen Input
Emulation” and “Click on Release”. When
using “Pen Input Emulation”, the PenMount
device driver will not send left mouse
button right away, therefore, it is
recommended to use this mode with the “press
and hold” right mouse button emulation, it
will be able to activate right mouse
function on “Start Menu” and other utility.
The other operating mode is called “Click on
Release”, which only send mouse click when
user release its touch operation. This
feature works well when browsing some of the
web pages. The actual mouse functions
generated by the above operating modes can
be viewed from the PenMount “DRAW” utility.
The PenMount Universal Driver and utilities
are developed to work with the major display
chipsets in the market, and it can
automatically match the angle when display
is requested to be rotated. With this
feature, touch system will be able to map in
the right angle of the display whether it is
in 0, 90, 180, or 270 degree under Microsoft
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7. The latest PenMount
device drivers can support screen rotations
on Intel, ATi, Nvidia, VIA, Matrox, and SMI
display chipsets, including the Intel IEGD.
This automatic mapping function are praises
and recognition as one of the best features
from our clients.
PenMount Windows Universal Driver V2.1.0.263
has included the PenMount Single-Touch
Gesture feature. PenMount Single-Touch
Gesture is an application program for mouse
emulation device. It supports PenMount 9000
and 6000 series control board and chipset
under RS-232 and USB interface with Windows
XP and Vista. Currently PenMount
Single-Touch Gesture offers 15 operating
gestures. If you are using PenMount
controller all you need to do is update your
driver, there is no need for any hardware or
mechanical construction change to avail of
this feature. You can define your own
hotkeys and function keys with the PenMount
Gesture utility.
In the latest released version of PenMount
Windows Universal Driver, V2.1.0.263, it
also provides the features such as PenMount
Advanced Calibration, Multiple Monitor,
Audio/Buzzer touch alert, and so on. With
PenMount Windows Universal Driver
V2.1.0.263, you can use all the features
that PenMount offers with its bundled
utility; on the other hand, if you wish to
develop your own touch programs, we
recommend using the PenMount API with its
latest device driver.
