Recently, there has been many PenMount
users’ inquiries on Linux Ubuntu 9.04,
wanting to know when PenMount will released
its driver. Two weeks after the released of
Linux Ubuntu 9.04 edition in April, PenMount
finished its driver development, testing and
verification to quickly fulfill all PenMount
users expectations.
The Ubuntu distribution 9.04 is based on
Linux kernel 2.6.28-11.37 and also builds
the latest GNOME 2.26 and X.Org 1.6. The
optimized desktop design and compatibility
of peripheral devices makes it the best
competitor for Windows XP in the products
like NetBook and NetPC.
PenMount Linux Ubuntu 9.04 driver will be
available to work with PenMount family
series of controllers, i.e. PenMount 6000,
9000, and 5000 controllers. Compared to the
8.04 driver, this 9.04 driver is much easier
to install; All you need to do is to plug in
the PenMount device to your computer before
installation and system will be started to
install automatically after running
install.sh. The installation program will
automatically detect PenMount device and
complete relative setting. PenMount team
created a parameter which is called RandR in
the files xorg.conf and penmount.ini for the
screen rotation feature. If the setting had
been changed in advance, installation
proceeding will map the setting info. You
can also change the value manual from
xorg.conf file.
In case the driver needs to launch the
calibration program, it has to be started
from “System” to “Preferences” and then
“PenMount Calibration” in the previous 8.10
editions’ driver. PenMount now provides a
new touch utility with an icon in 9.04
editions. PenMount Utility will be
automatically executed after driver is
installed and re-logged in. A “Blue Pen”
icon will be displayed in the gnome tray.
When you click the left button of the mouse
on the icon you will be able to run
calibration program and clicking right
button, you can get the selection for
PenMount driver information or close
PenMount Utility. It provides user a more
direct and friendly way for the calibration
work. The latest PenMount Linux Ubuntu 9.04
driver V2.4.1 has been released and
available for download from the website.
