In the beta version of Microsoft Windows 7
released in January 2009, there are many
enhanced features for touch input and tablet
PC. Many customers are asking us whether
PenMount device driver has Windows 7. The
answer is yes, of course. Some customers are
asking whether PenMount supports the touch
features in Windows 7, such as pen flicks.
The answer again is yes! In this issue of
PenMount bulletin, we will give a brief
introduction of these features.
In fact, PenMount Windows Universal Drivers
beginning from version 2.1.0.207 are
compatible with Microsoft Windows 7
operating system. In Tablet PC applications
and features of Windows Vista you would need
to have pen and touch input devices attached
to the system. By default, the PenMount
touch controller reports itself as an HID
mouse device, therefore, the PenMount team
has developed a special pen input device
driver that is compatible with the Microsoft
Tablet PC applications. If you are
interested in the Windows 7 tablet PC
features, we recommend using the PenMount
6000 USB interface touch solution.
When PenMount pen input digitizer driver is
installed, the tablet PC settings and
utilities in Windows 7 will show up. Windows
7 provides improved algorithm on touch
screen calibration. In Windows Vista, the
calibration process only use 4 sample points
; in Windows 7, the sample points have been
increased, and could also increase touch
accuracy. Windows 7 also provide right
button, multi-monitor and screen rotation
settings for PenMount pen input devices,
which makes touch input more friendly. In
Windows 7, it also allow users to customize
their own handwriting styles, and provide
better character recognition results.
There are still many other new features in
Windows 7 touch input system. We will
introduce how to use PenMount touch
controller with the Windows 7 gesture
support in our next bulletin issue. As next
week, Janauary 24 to February 1 is the
Chinese New Year Holiday, we are then
releasing this Bulletin ahead of schedule to
greet you all a Happy Chinese New Year. In
